Master class with MAX HATTLER (Germany)

"I am interested in the space between abstraction and figuration, where storytelling is freed from the constraints of traditional narrative. My work contemplates microcosms, moments, atmospheres: Close-ups as reflections on the big picture. While my films tend to be without dialogue, they explore the relationship between sound, music and the moving image." Max Hattler

Max will talk about his love for experimental animation and abstract moving images. Come and meet with this young and innovative artist on June 12 @ 6 pm at the cafe-gallery of Photosynthesis art centre, followed by a screening at 8 pm.

Experimental animator and media artist Max Hattler was educated at Goldsmiths, Escuela de Cine de Madrid, and the Royal College of Art, graduating with an MA (RCA) in Animation in 2005. He has had solo exhibitions at Tenderpixel, Lumen Eclipse, Media Art Friesland, and Someonesgarden Tokyo, and retrospectives at Image Forum Festival, Fredrikstad Animation Festival, Go Short, and Branchage Jersey Film Festival, among others. His works have been shown at hundreds of film festivals, as well as in museums and galleries. Max teaches at Goldsmiths, and is studying towards a Professional Doctorate in Fine Art (DFA) at the University of East London.
