ZLATIN RADEV

Zlatin Radev was born in 1960 in Sofia. He graduated from the National School of Fine Arts “Ac. Ilia Petrov” and the National Academy for Theatre and Film Arts in the major cartoon animation directing (1990). In 1991-1992 he specialized computer animation at the School of Visual Arts “Gobelins” in Paris.

His first author’s film is For Men Only.(1986) winning an award at the festival in Babelsberg, Germany and included in the programme “The best of animation” in Munich. In 1987 he worked on Eh...(with which he presented himself at the festivals in Moscow, Munich and Babelsberg. Conservfilm (Canfilm) (1990) is his most successful work to date, having received 20 awards worldwide and a nomination for Oscar in 1991.

From 1993 to 1996 he participated in the creation of special visual effects and miniatures for feature films. In 1996 he completed the second vesion of Shock, that was included in the official selection at 11 international festivals and was awarded in San Jose - California, Korea, Spain, Turkey, Ukraine, Greece, and Russia.

From 1997 to 2004 he was an executive producer of a number of films made by Boyana Film Studios for Bulgarian, German, and French companies.

Since 2005 he has been working on the full length film, The Junks, a co-production of Bulgaria, Canada, Germany and UK, of which he is the screenwriter and director. In 2007- 2008 he was director and director of the animation Ludovic, a co-production of Canada, Germany and the Netherlands, and in 2009 – director of the animation of Sandman (Germany).

Producer and director of a great number of commercials for major Bulgarian and foreign companies, winners of 6 international awards.

In 1994 he was a member of the jury at the film festival “Golden Rose” in Varna – Bulgaria and in 2002 – of the International festival “Molodist” in Kiev, Ukraine. From 1995 to 1999 he took part in the Managing board of the copyright organization FILMAUTOR, and from 1997 to 2004 – in the Managing Board of the Boyana Film Studios as manager of the Animation directorate.

In 1992 he created the producing company "Zlatin Radev Film" dealing with animation, commercial films and visual effects and in 2003 he became a co-founder of “Junk Brothers” Studio for feature and commrecial productions.

From 2001 to 2006 he was teaching animation at the National Academy for Theatre and Film Arts in Sofia.
