Juan Pablo Zaramella (Buenos Aires, Argentina) is an independent director and animator. After his graduation at the Instituto de Arte Cinematografico de Avellaneda as an Animation Director, he started writing, directing and animating his own films. All his independent shorts have been awarded at the most prestigious festivals around the world. In Argentina, he won the Best Film of the Year award (INCAA) and Condor de Plata Award for 2 consecutive years. As a result of the recognition of those first works, he started to work in animation for advertisements, directing commercials for renowned international brands. In 2010, Annecy International Animation Festival presented a special program with all his works. His last short film “Luminaris” has won the Audience Award and Fipresci Award at Annecy 2011, as well as Best short film up to 10 min at IAFF Golden Kuker, Best Animation at Anima Mundi 2011(Rio de Janeiro), and Special Jury Prize at SICAF 2011 (Seoul). "Luminaris" is included in the Academy Shortlist, being one of the 10 animated shorts that could be nominated for the Oscars in February 2012.Filmography:
