VESSELA DANTCHEVA
Vessela Dantcheva (1975) is an animation director and a producer of animated films. She graduated the Rotterdam Art Academy "Willem de Kooning" with Honors Cum Laude, with focus on Animation in 2001 with her short animated film "Pull Over". Then she specializes in animation at the "School of Visual Arts" in New York. In 2002, she and Ivan Bogdanov found FINFILM Production House, where they both work as independent animation filmmakers creating their own original movies and movies on demand for the Netherlands and Bulgaria. In 2008, Vessela and Maria Stanisheva create COMPOTE COLLECTIVE, which brings together a network of artists with a unique visual style, with the idea to produce a variety of animation projects."Anna Blume" (2009) is Vessela Dantcheva's latest film – a Bulgarian-German co-production with the support of the largest German Short Film Fund “Robert Bosch” and the Bulgarian Film Center. The film has been screend at more than 80 international film festivals and has won 9 awards, including the prestigious award for "Best Animation Film” in 2009 at the Bulgarian Film Academy Awards and Best Short Animation Film “Up to 10 Min” at IAFF Golden Kuker 2010.
